One River School Policies
Please read our policies before registering for classes and workshops. This page provides a comprehensive overview of our administrative program and the structure that supports it.
Class Confirmation: You will receive an email confirming registration and can also login to your account online. One River will call students only in the event of a class cancellation. Students should assume a class is running unless otherwise notified (5 - 7 days before the start date).
Facility Rules: One River will be open to the public at 8:30 AM Monday - Friday and 10 am Saturday & Sunday. Students may enter classrooms no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the beginning of class if the room is open or only after previous students have vacated and staff has prepared the room for the next class. Students finishing a class are expected to leave immediately so that we can prepare for the next class and start on time.
Gift Certificates: Gift Certificates for classes, workshops or programs are available for purchase. They are not redeemable for cash to be used for membership payment or other fees.
Instructor Substitutions: We reserve the right to substitute instructors for any class, workshop or program.
Make-Up Classes: One River will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. Classes canceled due to instructor absence will be made up at the end of the semester. Due to the nature of our ongoing classes, One River does not grant students who miss class on their own accord a refund, letter of credit or make-up opportunity. One River will not make up classes for inclement weather or holidays outside of the listed holiday schedule. If you have any questions about our make-up policy, please feel free to contact us.
Materials Fees: For certain Art classes, including Art Rocks and all Shuffle and Spotlight classes, there is a monthly materials fee, but we got your back for the first month. After that, you will be charged a relative amount ranging from $15 to $30 per month. For other clases, we will provide you with a list of materials that you will be required to purchase. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions and we will be happy to discuss.
Payment Procedures: Each class must be paid in full at the time of registration. Pro-rating is not available. A $35 fee will be assessed for any returned check or credit card charge.
Photographs: One River will occasionally document classes and student work using photography and video for promotional purposes only. If you do not wish yourself or your child to be photographed, please notify us in writing.
Refunds: Students who wish to withdraw from a class or program will receive a full refund upon receipt of written notification postmarked two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of a class or workshop minus a $35 handling fee. After the first week of classes, Students can receive a 50% refund and no refunds will be issued after the second class. A full refund will be given if One River cancels a class or the class or workshop is filled before your registration is received. Refunds can be expected 1-2 weeks from the date requested.
Registration: We have developed an intuitive registration tool online for your convenience. We would be happy to assist you in person, by phone, fax or mail as well.
Rolling Classes: Our class schedule works on a rolling monthly tuition basis. This simply means you can start at any time and cancel at any time with 30 days notice. Please be aware that your credit card will be automatically charged on a monthly basis. If you wish to enroll for one month only, we ask that you notify us at any point during that month. After that, we require 30 days notice. From a teaching standpoint, we quickly engage students in a steady variety of projects, each of which usually lasts between 4-6 weeks. This steady flow of new projects stimulates our students by exposing them to a variety of disciplines, including painting, drawing and 3D.
Student Behavior: One River reserves the right to dismiss any student for inappropriate behavior. Inappropriate behavior is determined at the sole discretion of One River management.
Student Evaluations: One River reserves the right to monitor students’ progress and require students to complete evaluation surveys for the purpose of determining students’ progress and program effectiveness.
Student Property: One River is not responsible for artwork or other property left on the premises and has no liability if such property is lost, stolen or damaged, except in instances when artwork is displayed in a gallery exhibition and insurance coverage is in place. We do not have the space to store artwork between semesters. Any artwork left after the semester ends will be held for one week. We are not responsible for any digital artwork or images left on the computers in the digital suite. Students must back up their work on a flash or external hard drive after using the digital suite.
Student Safety: One River is not held responsible for any bodily injuries or damages sustatined as a result of participating in any class or workshop on One River’s property. Please inform One River of any allergies, physical or dietary limitations, and concerns that may relate to you or your child. We strive to work with each child on his or her level and any information you can share with us will be helpful.
Student Substitutions: No student substitutions are allowed. Only students enrolled in a certain class may attend that class, unless they have the permission of the school Director to audit that class.
Teen Students in Adult Classes: Students under 18 years of age must have written permission from a parent or guardian to attend any class that uses a life model.
